Position Description:

The Software Architect & Sr. Development Technical Lead is a member of the Distributed Application Development Services team for Global Wealth Management Group and performs system design and application development activities for different systems mainly in the Settlements and Custody area.

This position is for a senior hands-on application developer who will be responsible for working on multiple systems which support different business areas and interact with IT groups for successful implementation of systems. The position will start with the responsibility for the current systems and processes, evolving to include re-architecture and re-engineering of projects that support the strategic direction of the firm.

The candidate should be familiar with full software development lifecycle and will work with onsite and offshore staff and consultants to meet the business requirements of the retail brokerage business areas.

The candidate will be involved in initial design, specification, prototyping, integration testing and long term maintenance activities. Specific assignments will depend on the size and complexity of the project but will generally include:

• Work on rapid prototyping of system functionality.
• Assist development manager in creating functional and technical specifications.
• Perform integration testing in development environment.
• Take responsibility for design, architecture and development of major system components of large scale projects.
• Lead small teams of developers (on-site and off-site) and take ownership for complete deliverables.

Skills Required:

• 10+ years of hands on development experience using Microsoft .Net technologies with C# as the programming language.
• Demonstrable professional experience using .Net technologies with an emphasis on C#, ASP.Net and .Net WebServices.
• Proven track record of strong system architecture and design experience.
• 8+ years experience developing 3-tier architecture/object oriented designs
• 6+ years experience creating/consuming web services, XML, data in relational database environments (preferably DB2, SQL).
• Ability to perform meticulous integration testing of system in a distributed computing environment before release for formal QA testing.
• Track record of delivering results in complex or ambiguous environments.
• Strong oral communication and listening skills.
• Full systems development life cycle experience.
• Ability to assist, mentor and provide guidance to less experienced team members in the distributed technologies area.

Skills Desired:

• 5+ years in financial services settings (preferably in a broker dealer firm).
• Knowledge of Back Office Financial Brokerage Operations processing highly desired
• Experience with workflow products such as Documentum is desired.
• Working knowledge of cross-platform mainframe and distributed technology is desired.
