Seeking a Java/Oracle developer to work on software for financial applications, in particular handling market data capture, technology infrastructure and/or valuations processing for the Portfolio Valuations department.

Candidates must possess a very strong academic degree in a numerate discipline as well as 3-5 years of proven track record as a software development professional.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a top notch developer who has experience working with large volumes of data to learn the business and eventually head the group.  On the job training can be provided for financial aspects of the job.

This person will be responsible for the implementation of financial data software and website development using Java and Oracle technologies, working on a team of 3 within a larger team of 20 developers. 

The role is roughly 70% Java development and 30% production support.  

The portfolio valuations development team builds and supports the systems that provide analytics and processing for portfolio valuations product.  The product leverages a broad range of real-time and T+1 market data to provide an industry leading mark-to-model valuation service spanning all asset types.

Requirements:

Education:

• Very strong academic degree. Numerate discipline preferred. Must include GPA.

Background/Experience:

• 3-5 years as a software development professional.
• Experience with large volumes of data/data processing/ distributed calculations/distribution frameworks etc.
• Experience leading or mentoring a small team
• General knowledge of Financial Markets useful but not required.

Technical Skills:

• Java design and implementation including coreJava 1.6 knowledge, strong multithreading and Java performance skills
• Relational database management system: Oracle10g

Desired Technical Skills:

• Experience with distributedcomputing middleware (such as GridGain) and Java Reflectionis a plus.

• Have high energy and enthusiasm towards what you do
• Motivated self-starter with an ability to mentor and eventually lead a team
• Conscientious, have excellent attention to detail, very hard working and prepared to go the extra mile to absorb the necessary. business & technical knowledge to succeed.

• Proven ability to contribute to team projects (e.g. Internships, sports, university projects or past employment).
